Host our externs and get extra hands in your office while helping the next generation of dental assistants get their footing.
What it looks like in practice
After 10 weeks of classroom instruction, our students spend 80 hours inside a working dental office. They've already covered infection control, radiography, chairside setups, sterilization, and HIPAA and OSHA compliance before their first day with you.
The extern follows your team, assists where permitted, and observes the rest. They're not a substitute for your staff. They're there to learn. But most offices find they add real value during the externship, especially with routine chairside and sterilization tasks.
There's no cost to your office. We place one extern per session and coordinate scheduling with you directly.
What students arrive knowing
- Infection control and sterilization protocols
- Dental radiography (exposure and technique)
- Chairside assisting and tray setups
- HIPAA and OSHA compliance
- CPR certification (current)
- Basic dental terminology and charting
A pipeline of vetted assistants
Most of our partner offices hire externs they liked. By the time the externship ends, you've worked alongside that person through the whole placement. You know how they handle pressure, how they communicate with patients, and whether they'd fit your team. That's a different kind of screening than a resume.
Current partner practices
Right now our externs rotate through Dr. Soard's Las Vegas practices: Green Valley Dentistry, Sahara Family Dentistry, Centennial Family Dentistry, Dentistry for Families – North, and Distinctive Smiles. We also provide other externships in other general dentistry and specialty practices across the valley.
